As everybody knows by now, recently Arizona's Governor signed a law requiring local law enforcement officials to take into custody persons when they have a "reasonable suspicion" that they are present in the U.S. illegally. The following news items suggest there would be a serious attempt to pass CIR early in 2009 in both the houses of congress. That makes DC rally really more important as we just cannot afford to let even a single Durbin/Grassley provision to slip into CIR.

I am on H1B visa, and now I am going to fly back to my home country. Unfortunately, I can't find the original left lower portion of my I797, which is "for personal record". I still have the orignial upper portion, I94, and copies of the whole I797 form.

Will I have trouble getting my visa stamp and reenterring this country? What should I do now?

B1 is purely-non-immigrant-intent visa while H1 is dual-intent. Given this, I do not see any harm entering on B1 while you have a valid I-797 presumably starting Oct 1st? So, after returning you can appear for H1 visa stamp and later enter using H1.

This is my personal opinion, please take attorney's advise.

Congrats to IV core team on pulling something very improbable; filing I-485 till Aug 17th honoring the July visa bulletin.

Any idea what are the options for Employment-based CP? I already applied for CP and am waiting for Packet 3. Packet 3 itself takes 6-8 weeks for processing. I tried to find info when visa number is alloted when u choose CP for greencard. I am getting conflicting information.

Can I file I-485; can I switch to 485 from CP. How long does the switch take. Thanks for ur inputs.

Here is my scenario...

1. Applied my first EAD thru some lawyer (hence G-28)
2. I am planning to renew it on "my own"

Can I renew EAD without Attroney help... I know the answer "YES" but the main question is... do I need to inform USCIS saying that I want to withdraw my lawyer's and hence G-28 which was filed along with my first EAD?

If anyone are sucessful, please help me...My question is not on how to self apply EAD..My question is whether we need to inform USCIS about G-28...

from my personal experience and from others, you can't get to talk to an Immigration Officer by calling the 1-800 number. you need to get an Info pass appointment and that way you can talk to an IO.

When ever I call the customer service they say they are unable to get more information. So I was wondering who can be contacted to get the accurate information about our case.

Hi Everybody!!

I am new at this site and I have a question!!

My lawyer submitted the ETA 9089 on Dec. 2007 , we've been checking the case # A-XXXXX-XXXXX and the only thing that shows is: PROCESSING...

Isnt supposed to be 30 days??

My situation is really bad because right now my driver license expired and I cant renew without an Immigration Case Number, but my process stil on DOL as "processing"

Any suggestion or Comments??

2. What's alien number and where can I find it...???

Hi,

I read an article on Automatic Revalidation.

It says if you have an expired visa, and a valid 797 you can still enter US.

Is it true for H1 extensions?

Please advise.
