You mean to say that "Those who have EAD with PD 2006/2007" needs green Card and you dont bother about PD 2000-2005 from Backlog who never got a chance to apply i-485 ?
Moral: Allow the people to suffer who are suffering and let others make merry(PD 2006-2007).
I am just giving my observations. I (and most of the people here) know the pain in waiting on H1-B. Definitely the ability to file I 485 desrves higher priority.

As of now 10% have said that they are going to re-file. That's lot of re-filers.

I dont care about the fees. anything under 1000$ for 485 filing is cheap. I am happy they are in the process of eliminating substitution since this will reduce lcs. also higher the fees lesser the abuse of the system where one employee makes different employers file for h1s and gcs. I fully support the hike!

It has to be anyone of a rank signing the letter saying that you work in this position for this salary, someone like your boss, human resources, whoever is nice enough to sign it, they are not really strict on this one, they are on the I-140. Do you have that approved?

I think I have joined IV in last 3 years or so...
Donated money once & have called congressmen & senators many times ...
Could someone please tell me -
What has been achieved by IV till date? I know we all meet elected reps, officials in washington dc ..... but I am interested in end result like not wasting visa numbers , implementing spillover & along these lines.
I have asked few friends to join IV but then if they ask me for IV accomplishments - i can't count any....

I dont think Ron Hira has ever worked in IT side or on the HR side. Whats wrong if people for pursue for Masters or Phd for GC?. This Guy does not have any idea about the value this techs bring.

Taking a plunge now on EAD is like drowning yourself. prices have not yet come down and will come down by 15-20 % over 5 years. there is talk about recession , job losses and more foreclosures. if you dont need the space ...DONT BUY. most of us dont need more space unless we have 2-3 grown kids who need their own rooms. renting is not same as throwing away money as you get a place to live. how does buying a home give you security ..it is more of a hassle if you are on EAD or H-1 and you need mobility after a job is lost. my friend who has good worldly experience rightly said ..buying a house now is like worrying about one more thing in life.
If buying a house had been the smart option, I would have bought it already.

BTW, independent analysts predict that housing prices will fall by 20% in real terms in next 10 years.
All I am stating is that this issue can be a good talking point for the Immigration Lobby, especially as the housing market continues its slide down:)

I am now worried that eventually we will all get the GC and then we will sit out for 5-7 years and get a citizenship... Then make a trip to india only to realize that the the world has shifted.
Then it is all back to square 1, H1, GC, citizenship in India.... :D

My wife's AP was approved today. The receipt date on the original filing was Jun1st.
Since, we had to visit Canada shortly for a conference, we took the invitation letter to the InfoPass appointment. The person at the counter asked us the fax the documents to the Nebraska office and we did that the very same day.
After a week, we received an approval email.
I also had contacted the CSC around 20 days before the infopass appointment, even though I chose the 45 day options while booking the appointment.
Hope this information helps others.

Keep up the good work guys. Its heartening to see the IV team taking so much efforts. The least we can do is support them.
