Service industry is not always based on labor cost differentials. Many services are value added services. For example, stock brokers used to charge $200 and above for stock trades; however, electronic brokers came and made the industry efficient and hence can profit more by charging only $10 or even less. This is easier to analyze. Now look at London or Hong Kong -- what services it provides and why is it booming?
High investments in R&D in general is good for economy but not necessarily true for a company. On the other hand Apple copied mp3 music players from Creative and made millions. One can find countless examples of skilled marketing (services) not innovative products making money. So don't assume that R&D investments are always good for a company.

I saw the show yesterday. It is very sad that people like lou dobbs are twisting the facts by saying around 700,000 H1b visa holders are overstaying in USA. Also on that show one senator named "TOM" forgot his lastname, is saying the same and also that guy even did not know how long H1B is valid, he says it is valid for 5 years after that H1b visa holder become illegal. These kind of people spread hatered among common people against immigrants. is there way, we can sue these guys for their racist remarks/ misleadeing information?
i did watch the show, i feel my blood arousing to fight back. Well, we can try exposing his false faces to other TV show hosts like msnbc, foxnews etc.
Am sure there should be some law point to help us sue this guy.

what is this? there are delivered date and received date with received date before the delivered date. How can they receive before the delivery. Hmmm Did USCIS guys ran early morning 4 O Clock to UPS/ FED-EX/ ETC to receive the app before those guys attempted to deliver :) Even if someone says, "YES", there was 6 days difference between those two days. No idea what USCIS is doing.

hi, just now both the faxes sent. one more small suggestion, correct me if i am wrong, also in addition to contacting the employers, can we contact good immigration lawyers like Berry Appleman and Leiden (www.usabal.com), rajiv khanna, murthy.com, sheila, aila.org, ohio immigration (www.immigration-law.com) etc and ask them to send this fax on their letter pads on behalf of IV. my 2 cents..

Once people are out of this GC mess, they all start talking about anti immigration and that's the reality, u go to any indian community around and see how much support you have from those folks who have GC/US citizenship.
Hispanic community has unity. EB Community has factured groups, each intenet on their narrow goals and aspirations. There is no use commenting on and comparing Hispanic comunity with legal community. First of all congratulations on arriving at a mile stone. But obviously it is not end of the journey.
It is also not a time to say "thanks and good bye" to IV. Consider the fact that IV has done a lot for us, at least by making Congress aware of our plight and giving the anti immigrationist some run for their money and at times making their heartbit to skip. It is a different matter whether we got the law passed to address our problem, we may not have that much power; a simple fact is that we do not have voting power and Indian-American or Chinese-American community is not 100% behind us.
But in times like this at least members like you should not leave IV. Then those who have made the dates temporarily current to divide us have just achieved their goals. Anti immigrationist and the writers of the senate amnesty for illegal aliens bill would smile after reading your post. In fact you should announce a one time donation to IV to celebrate your milestone and pledge your continuing support to IV.

I was in the same boat -stuck in DBEC upto July 20th. I just scrapped thru and filed AOS Just-in-time.
For all those stuck in BEC and missed the July 2nd- Aug 17th window, please be assured that IV has not forgotten about you. One of the items IV has always been pushing for is "ability to file AOS (I-485) when Visa number is not available".

We have been calling and talking to ppl all over new england area.
But we have hardly been able to get a convincing number of ppl to attend the rally.
Have you watched the bus thread for New England Area. 26 votes, can you believe that.
We definitely need to get more innovative. I dont know what ppl want, so they can be motivated.
Sometimes i think being educated is a curse, as ppl become more scared and are fine adapting to the system.
Look at the ILLEGALS at least they came out openly. They dared to come forward and i am sure they will be rewarded sooner.
LEGAL ppl who have nothing to fear are then also they are more scared to do anything. So this is the right time for me to express my opinion LEGALS ARE FOOLS.
Please dont be mad at me, i am just frustuated with ppl responses, but one thing for sure, i will keep on motivating ppl in whichever way i can do.
I have an idea how abt asking the hispanic community to be a part of this rally, they would definitively oblige more easily than our own i guess"" just kidding:)

Other then that; department of state; uscis don't care for it much. They have enough data on companies that if it happened to a person in one quarter then ok. However, if there are a number of people who fit the profile then it gives less credibility.
I'll give you an example: DOL comes to investigate a particular person whom DOS has referred. Now; they go through the whole list of people (they actually do this); and see that every person who arrived into the country was on bench for three months...gives less credibility to the person's argument.

After landing, he made me a sign a contract that i won't leave him within 1 year or else i need to bear fines ( he didn't tell this while giving offer letter in India ). Then later he kicked me out after 1 year ( because of bad time there weren't much projects ).

I guess most of the folks here are busy preparing to apply for 485. I have different problem here.
My employer's attorney is charging me outrageous fees of around $5000 to
apply for 485, AP and EAD for me and my spouse. This excludes USCIS fees. I work on hourly basis, so I should be taking care of immigration fees. My employer is not allowing me to file through another law firm.
Do I have any other options. How much do they charge usually.
